The New England Patriots hired former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge as an offensive assistant, the team announced Tuesday.

Judge was dismissed by the Giants after going 10-23 over two seasons.

The 40-year-old returns to New England, where he spent eight years working as a special teams assistant (2012-2014) and then coordinator (2015-2019). Judge also served as the club's wide receiver coach in his final season before leaving for New York.

The Patriots currently have a vacancy at offensive coordinator after Josh McDaniels was named the Las Vegas Raiders' head coach.

The Raiders expressed interest in Judge as their special teams coordinator following Rich Bisaccia's departure, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
