The local housing market continues to explode at a pace not known to man or beast.

Last month, the average home price in the Hamilton area hit a record-high at $1,058,756.

With that in mind, here are the most and least expensive homes in Hamilton as of Feb. 17, according to Zoocasa.

Five lowest-priced homes

57 Province St. N.

Listed at $349,000 on Feb. 9, this two-bedroom, one-bathroom home in Crown Point was Hamilton's least expensive home this month. It was on the market for a whole six days before selling at $606,000. According to the listing, it's a great starter home" on a large 60-by-95-foot lot. Based off the photos, some maintenance will be required.

16 Burton St.

Located a few blocks north of the General hospital, this two-bed, two-bath home was listed at $379,900 on Feb. 10. Situated on a 27-by-95 foot lot, there's a second entrance with a kitchen, so conversion into a legal apartment, and some extra income, is possible. The back balcony overlooks a charming paid parking lot.

495 Cannon St. E.

This semi-detached home near Wentworth and Barton is priced at $399,900 and has four bedrooms, two baths. A blank canvas of sorts, some work will be required, starting in the kitchen. The walkable home is located on a lot 20-by-72 feet, and was listed Feb. 12. It also boasts a creepy loft area to commune with whom you wish.

292 Adeline Ave.

Short and stout, this simple four-room bungalow was listed at $449,000 on Feb. 15. Just around the corner from Mahoney Park, there's a kitchen, living space, bedroom and bathroom on the 40-by-112.5 lot that walks out onto a large backyard.

41 Britannia Ave.

Listed for $499,900, this house was on the market for four days before selling at $770,000 on Feb. 14. The Crown Point East three-bed, three-bath detached home is steps from Ottawa Street with a finished basement, updated kitchen and swimming pool.

Five highest-priced homes

1584 Centre Rd.

This $6,988,000 property was listed Jan. 20 and is currently Hamilton's most expensive home. It's also the second time it's been for sale within the last six months, but failed to sell. The multimillion-dollar home has more rooms than most people will use in a day. Any extravagant wish desired - theatre room, workshop, wine cellar, exercise room, sunroom, music room - can be yours. For nearly $7 million that is.

9 Lochside Dr.

Want be so close to the water it's practically in your backyard? This lakefront property was listed for $5,990,000 on Jan. 26. Indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, ceilings so high you couldn't possibly clean. Renovated main floor with an open-concept basement large enough for a separate workout space, games room, second kitchen and bedrooms.

55 Windemere Rd.

Another waterfront property, this one situated just outside of Fifty Point Conservation Area. Listed for $4,888,000 on Jan. 29, the most interesting thing about this home is that it sold for $1,400,000 in June 2020. It's got all the things you can expect from a million-dollar home - pot lights, white walls and shiny floors.

6355 Hwy. 56

This Binbrook bungalow is priced at $4,200,000 and was posted on Feb. 16. Ten acres of property between two golf courses, a chef's kitchen and to top it off a gate to close to keep out your neighbours - and any other undesirables. The word that comes to mind is grandiose.

112 Watercrest Dr.

For those that want to be closer to their neighbours - and to Lake Ontario - there's this Jan. 22 waterfront listing at $3,889,000. Your own personal terrace to sunbathe on, custom upgrades throughout and a driveway long enough to park 14 cars.
