Jan Pieńkowski, illustrator of Meg and Mog books, dies at 85

Celebrated author and illustrator's work inspired by Polish childhood and experience as wartime refugee

Jan Piekowski, the beloved illustrator and author of more than 140 children's books, has died aged 85.

Piekowski, whose work included the Meg and Mog pop-up books, had been living with Alzheimer's.
