Up to 25 millimetres of rain, freezing rain forecast for Hamilton Tuesday
Batten down the hatches and clear your catch basins, heavy rain is headed for Hamilton.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement early Tuesday calling for up to 25 millimetres of rain to possibly flood the area.
Special weather statements are issued to let people know that conditions are unusual and could cause concern.
The weather forecaster also warns that freezing rain and freezing drizzle are possible.
Rain is expected to start late Tuesday morning or afternoon and there is a risk of a thunderstorm in the Hamilton area.
Because the ground is frozen and unable to absorb the rain, the statement adds that flooding is possible.
For information concerning flooding, please consult your local conservation authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry district office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
Skies are expected to clear late Wednesday afternoon or evening.
