Marpet, 28, was named a Pro Bowler for the first time in 2021.

"After seven formidable years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I've come to the decision to retire from the game that has given me so much," Marpet wrote. "This organization and the people surrounding it have helped not only fulfill a dream but also helped build me into the person I am today."

Selected out of Hobart in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Marpet earned a starting role with Tampa Bay during his rookie campaign. The native of New York went on to start in 101 regular-season contests and six postseason games. He was a member of the Buccaneers' Super Bowl LV championship team.

"He has been the consummate professional and has been a rock for us in the interior of our offensive line," Bucs' coach Bruce Arians said, according to team reporter Scott Smith. "We will miss him on the field and in the locker room, but I am happy that he gets to go out as a Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowler."

Tampa Bay's offense could look drastically different in 2022. Marpet joins quarterback Tom Brady in retirement, while center Ryan Jensen, guard Alex Cappa, and receiver Chris Godwin are set to become free agents in March.
