Cardinals extend Kingsbury, Keim through 2027 season

The Arizona Cardinals have signed head coach Kliff Kingsbury and general manager Steve Keim to new contract extensions through the 2027 season, the team announced Wednesday.

"The leadership of both Steve and Kliff have been key factors in the team's turnaround over the last three seasons," Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "We are all looking forward to continuing that progress and recognize these two individuals will be a big part of achieving our long-term goals as an organization."

Their new deals come after a successful 2021 campaign which saw the Cardinals make their first playoff appearance since 2015. The club finished 11-6 after a 7-0 start but bowed out of the postseason with a wild-card loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

The Cardinals have improved their record every year since hiring Kingsbury in 2019. They won five games his first year, eight in 2020, and 11 last season.

The next order of business for the duo will be the future of quarterback Kyler Murray. The former No. 1 overall pick is looking for an extension from the organization, and his representatives submitted a contract proposal to the team.

Kingsbury said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that the team's "long-term goal" is to have Murray under center.
