Colts' Doyle retires after 9 seasons
Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle is retiring after nine NFL seasons, he announced Monday.
"Growing up in Indianapolis in the late 90's/2000's it was impossible to not be a diehard Colts fan. Getting the chance to play nine seasons for the team I have always and will always cheer for has been a dream come true. It is something that is hard to describe," Doyle said in a statement. "I now go back to being the fan I have always been and retiring from the great game of football."
Doyle entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He joined the Colts shortly after and garnered recognition for his blocking ability. He served as a backup over his first three seasons with the club before growing into an expanded role.
He earned his first of two Pro Bowl nods in 2017 after catching 80 passes for 690 yards and four touchdowns. His second trip came in 2019 after he tallied 448 yards and four scores.
The 31-year-old finished the 2021 campaign with 29 receptions for 302 yards across 17 games.
