The Green Bay Packers placed the franchise tag on star receiver Davante Adams, while seven other clubs used their tender by the Tuesday afternoon deadline, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tagged wideout Chris Godwin for a second straight season and hope they'll be able to work out an extension this time around.

Adams will take home $20.1 million in 2022 if he signs the tag, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman. His tag is worth 20% more than his 2021 compensation because that figure exceeds the value of the regular tag price for wide receivers.

Godwin will also get a 20% bump over his 2021 compensation because he was tagged in back-to-back years, as will Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson.

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku became the first player to officially get franchise tagged Monday. He was later followed by Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr. and Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates.

Teams have until 4 p.m. ET on July 15 to negotiate a long-term deal with players who've received the franchise tag.
