Report: Cowboys actively discussing potential Collins trade

The Dallas Cowboys are actively engaged in trade discussions centered around starting offensive tackle La'el Collins, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Teams are reportedly interested in Collins, who is set to earn a $10-million salary this season. More than $6 million of his 2022 salary will be guaranteed on March 20, and he'll account for a $15.3-million cap charge, according to Spotrac.

Collins has been a constant starter on the Cowboys' offensive line since joining as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He's played predominantly at right tackle but also has experience at left guard, where he slotted in during the early portions of his career.

Dallas signed Collins to a five-year, $50-million extension prior to the 2019 season.

The LSU product appeared in 12 contests this year, starting 10. He missed five games due to a suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Dallas could shake up its on-field personnel this offseason in order to create cap space. The club is also reportedly expected to release star wideout Amari Cooper if a trade partner isn't found.
