Report: Jets land Tomlinson on 3-year, $40M deal
The New York Jets are signing former San Francisco 49ers left guard Laken Tomlinson to a three-year, $40-million contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The deal includes $27 million guaranteed and contains a maximum value of $41.2 million.
Tomlinson will head to New York on the heels of his first Pro Bowl selection. The 30-year-old blossomed in the 49ers' zone-blocking scheme; the Jets use a similar system under second-year coordinator and former San Francisco assistant Mike LaFleur.
The Jets went into the offseason prioritizing their offensive line after struggling to protect quarterback Zach Wilson and open holes in the ground game in 2021. They'll presumably plug Tomlinson into the lineup at left guard and move Alijah Vera-Tucker to the right side.
Tomlinson spent four seasons in San Francisco, initially arriving in the Bay Area through a trade with the Detroit Lions. The former first-round pick turned around his career in San Francisco after falling short of expectations in Detroit.
