Free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will sign a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal includes $6.5 million guaranteed and an additional $3.5 million in incentives, according to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

Additionally, the Dolphins agreed to a three-year, $22.8-million contract with free-agent wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, reports Schefter.

Bridgewater will be Tua Tagovailoa's backup. He's coming off a one-year stint with the Denver Broncos, for whom he started 14 games. Bridgewater completed 66.9% of his passes for 3,052 yards and 18 touchdowns with seven interceptions last year, and the Broncos went 7-7 in his starts.

Bridgewater has successfully managed games as a starter in the past, though he's often struggled when asked to carry a greater load. The Dolphins are adding the veteran after committing to Tagovailoa as their quarterback of the future. Miami drafted Tagovailoa sixth overall in 2020 and has been waiting for its investment to pay off.

A first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, Bridgewater will head to the fifth team of his career. The 29-year-old has also played for the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Broncos, and he had a preseason stint with the New York Jets.

Wilson will join Bridgewater in Miami following a four-year run with the Cowboys. He peaked with 602 yards and six touchdowns last season.
