Report: Jets, Dolphins in talks to acquire Hill from Chiefs
The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are in serious talks to acquire star wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Chiefs granted Hill's agent permission to seek a trade after extension talks stalled, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and is set to earn over $18 million in 2022.
Hill has been a centerpiece of Kansas City's prolific offense since 2017. The speedster is coming off his fourth 1,000-yard campaign in five years, and he caught a career-high 111 passes for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
A Hill trade would send another round of shockwaves through the AFC West, which has seen numerous star players enter the division since free agency opened.
The Chiefs, whose high-flying offense has powered them to six straight division titles and one Super Bowl championship, would be left with tight end Travis Kelce and free-agent signee JuJu Smith-Schuster to anchor their receiving corps if a Hill trade comes to fruition.
Kansas City is reportedly scheduled to meet with free-agent receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Wednesday.
