Hamilton-filmed ‘The Umbrella Academy’ returns in June
Fans of the Hamilton-filmed The Umbrella Academy" will be happy come June.
Netflix has announced it will be dropping the third season of the show that revolves around the dysfunctional Hargreeves family of superheroes on June 22.
A new season for the quirky program has been delayed because of the pandemic. The last time fans got a glimpse of the family was when the second season dropped in July 2020.
The show was rated that year as Netflix's sixth most-watched show. It said the second season was watched by 43 million people during a 28-day period.
The third season was shot between February and August of 2021. It filmed at such locales as Gage Park, Gore Park and on King William Street, outside Club Seventy Seven. It filmed at 54 King St. E., depicted as the headquarters for The Umbrella Academy." It is a former bank, restaurant and strip club. The show also filmed scenes in Toronto.
The release date for the new season was revealed by Netflix in a 17-second teaser run on social media March 13. Big news also came on March 30.
Elliot Page, who came out as transgender in 2020, announced his character will come out as transgender. He plays Vanya and his character will become known as Viktor Hargreeves. It was confirmed by Netflix in a tweet.

The Hargreeves clan are all offspring of a strange birthing cycle which struck the earth in 1989. The babies all had superpowers. They are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves (the venerable Colm Feore).
The first season debuted in February 2019 and that year Netflix said it was its third most-watched series. The show is based on a graphic novel series.
Fans will know from the second season the siblings went back in time and stopped an apocalypse from happening in 1963. The new season takes place in 2019.
A Netflix synopsis reveals what is ahead for the Hargreeves. The Umbrella Academy does not exist and has been replaced by new superhero children adopted by Sir Reginald. They are called The Sparrow Academy.
Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent faceoff that turns out to be the least of everyone's concerns," says Netflix.
Navigating challenges, losses and surprises of their own - and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the universe (something they may have caused) - now all they need to do is convince dad's new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?"
Also returning to the show are Adam Gallagher (who plays Five), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), David Castaneda (Diego) and Tom Hopper (Luther). The Sparrow Academy includes Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein and Cazzie David. Netflix says Euphoria" star Javon Walton will appear in the third season.
Hamilton actress T.J McGibbon played Young Vanya in the first season of the show.
The second season was nominated for four technical Emmy Awards, but did not win any. It filmed at such locales as Hamilton City Hall, Corktown Pub, The Cotton Factory, Vienna Tavern, Ottawa Street North and Dyment's Country Bakery and Farm Market in Flamborough.
The Hamilton-filmed youth comedy show Homeschooled" is now showing on CBC Gem. The 10-episode series follows two 16-year-old girls as they make a documentary on home-schooling. Each episode is 15 minutes long. The show filmed at the former Holy Family Catholic school in east Hamilton last fall.
