Hamilton police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault investigation.

Police allege a male suspect sexually assaulted a woman in the area of Main Street West and Bay Street South around 1 p.m. March 12. He then fled east on Main from Bay in a dark-coloured vehicle, police say.

The suspect is described as being approximately 45 to 55 years old and around five-foot-six or five-foot-seven, with an average build, a goatee and grey and dark hair that is thinning on the top. Police say he was wearing dark pants, dark New Balance runners and a New Balance zip-up jacket/shirt at the time of the incident.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Det. Const. Shannon McLean at 905-546-4614 or Det. Sgt. Jennifer Currie at 905-546-4962.

To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppershamilton.com.
