Unsurprisingly, despite efforts from the Bank of Canada to tame it, the housing market continues to climb.

A report released last week from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation stated the average home in the Hammer is expected to cost over $1 million beyond 2024. The average single-family home in the city is currently $992,500.

With that in mind, here are Hamilton's least and most expensive homes listed on Zoocasa, as of April 26.

Five lowest-priced homes

28 Northcote St.

Listed for $399,000, this recently renovated home sold at $550,000 after eight days on the market. Located around the corner from Dofasco, the four-bedroom, two-bath house has a open-concept main floor and a unique loft space that can be transformed into whatever tickles your fancy.

174 Emerald St. N.

This semi-detached, three-bedroom in the Landsdale area was listed at $449,900 on April 8. Over a week later, it sold for $635,000. The home had been recently renovated, including the addition of a newly landscaped backyard.

6 Frederick Ave.

This Crown Point East home was listed on April 13 for $449,900 before selling on April 22 at $635,000. It's detached, has three bedrooms, parking and a few upgrades to the flooring and half-bath.

97 Evans St.

This simple bungalow can be yours for $479,900. It could be a chance for a first-time homebuyer to break into the market. It is fully renovated, with a car port and a rather small second bedroom.

54 Britannia Ave.

Listed on the first of the month at $499,000, this two-storey Crown Point East home spent two weeks on the market before getting scooped up. The three-bedroom, two-bath detached property sold at $600,000.

Five highest-priced homes

3 Appleridge Crt.

This custom-built Carlisle estate that backs onto conservation lands was listed March 18 at $3,999,999. Its opulence knows no bounds. Situated on a private cul-de-sac, this luxury home has six bedrooms, six baths, three kitchens, four fireplaces and two staircases.

1537 Jerseyville Rd. W.

This Ancaster home comes with 73 acres of land and a lake in the backyard. Listed for $3,999,990 on April 1, it's also got a pool and five massive bedrooms, along with a custom kitchen. Vibrant gardens await.

35 Palomino Dr.

Over an acre of property in a popular Carlisle neighbourhood, this detached home was listed for $3,850,000 March 21. It's located across the street from a park and surrounded by greenery. The home is also dripping in custom features throughout - think wine pantry.

53 Windemere Rd.

This Stoney Creek lakeside home is a bit different with a five-level sidesplit. The house was newly listed for $2,999,888 on April 22. It was previously listed for $3,195,000 on April 8 before being terminated. It's located right next to Fifty Point Conservation Area. It's all about that view.

10 Meander Close

Another Carlisle property, this one fresh to the housing market April 1 at $2,799,900. But it didn't last long. It was sold at $2,705,000 on April 27. Plenty of living space, six bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace and the backyard has a getaway feel complete with saltwater pool and cabana.
