Westmount Secondary students stage walkout on Hamilton Mountain to protest alleged homophobic actions

More than 200 Westmount Secondary School students staged a walkout under cool, cloudy conditions May 4 to protest alleged homophobic actions on the part of school administration.

Students walked out of classes at 10:30 a.m., holding signs, waving rainbow flags and chanting, We deserve a safe space."

Word of the walkout spread quickly on social media.

Rally organizers say they are planning to meet with school board officials on Thursday.
