Hamilton police are investigating an alleged assault in east Hamilton that left a victim seriously injured.

Police responded to the area of Parkdale and Melvin avenues around 11 a.m. on Wednesday after a person called 911 reporting a serious assault, said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst.

A suspect has since been arrested and there are no concerns for public safety, police said. They could not disclose what charges the suspect faces.

Police have been unable to locate the victim, who they say fled the scene prior to their arrival and sustained serious injuries. They are concerned for his well-being.

Police said the victim is Cody Comeau, 30, of Hamilton. He is described as five-foot-10, around 140 pound with a thin build, grey hooded sweater, dark grey shorts and black running shoes.

Anyone with information about the incident or Comeau's whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Candace Culp at 905-546-2907 or the Division Two Patrol Staff Sgt. At 905-546-2963.

To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppershamilton.com.
