Sew Hungry food truck festival returns to Ottawa Street this weekend
Hamilton-area food truck owners are getting their griddles ready for the return of Sew Hungry.
The Ottawa Street food truck fest is back Saturday after a two-year pandemic hiatus.
Everyone's so excited that we can do it this year," after events planned for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled, said Ottawa Street BIA co-ordinator Chelsea Braley.
Sew Hungry will feature 25 food trucks, including damn good tacos" from Burlington-based 50 Pesos, flavours from the streets of India from Hamilton-based Flying Gnosh, a saucy selection from Stoney Creek-based ketchup producer Twisted Tomato, traditional Dutch bitterballen snacks from Guelph-based Hart and Zeil and delicious dishes from the sea from Buster's Sea Cove out of Toronto's St. Lawrence Market.
The event will also feature six bands, a beer garden from burger joint HAMBRGR, an activity zone featuring Hamilton Honey Badgers, Ticats and Forge FC, and tents from Ottawa Street eateries Hammerhead's seafood restaurant and farmer-owned butcher Murray's Farm & Butcher Shoppe.
Plus, the majority of businesses, both restaurants and shops will be open," Braley says, so folks can still sit on their favourite patio and take in the excitement.
All that food and fun will fill up Ottawa Street between Barton Street East and Dunsmure Road, shutting the road down all day May 14 - with food trucks and activities between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
