Australia’s first cases of monkeypox virus identified in NSW and Victoria

Health authorities say the men, in their 30s and 40s, recently returned from Europe and are now isolating either at home or in hospital

Two cases of monkeypox virus have been reported in Australia with one in New South Wales and another in Victoria.

The NSW case was a man in his 40s who developed a mild illness several days after returning from Europe. He and a household contact are isolating at home, NSW Health said on Friday.
