Linc reopens after three-vehicle crash that injured five people
A 50-year-old Hamilton man is in serious, but stable condition in hospital in the wake of a multi-vehicle crash on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway Thursday.
.
The six-vehicle crash around 6:15 p.m. on May 19 caused the parkway to be closed for more than 11 hours between Highway 403 and Mohawk Road for investigation and cleanup. The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes, east of Golf Links Road.
Hamilton police said the crash involved a tractor trailer and five sedans.
Supt. Dave Thompson of the Hamilton Paramedic Service said paramedics transported three adults and a child to hospital.
By Friday morning police said all injured parties, save the 50-year-old man, were treated and released from hospital.
A video of the incident posted to Twitter about an hour after the crash shows a red car partially crumpled under a blue transport truck. A small white car with damage to its front and rear can be seen on the side of the parkway.
Thompson said paramedics are asking drivers to take care on the roads as the long weekend approaches, which he said paramedics dub the start of trauma season."
Hamilton paramedics would like to remind everyone as we head into the long weekend to celebrate safely, avoid risky behaviours and look out for each other," he said. Slow down and stay alert so we can all arrive alive this holiday weekend."
The crash is being investigated by the collision reconstruction unit. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-546-4755.
