Hamilton advanced polls open for the provincial election

Advanced polling for the 2022 Ontario election kicked off Thursday.

With about two weeks until election day on June 2, voters can cast their ballot in advance at several locations in Hamilton between May 19 and 28.

Here is what you need to know:

Hamilton Centre

Hamilton Centre incumbent and NDP Leader Andrea Horwarth is running again. Sarah Bokhari is running for the PC party.

Nigel Cheriyan is representing the Communist party. John Chroust is running for the New Blue Party. Sandy Crawley is running for the Green Party of Ontario.

The Ontario Liberal Party nominated Ekaterini Dimakis. Brad Peace is representing the Ontario Party. Nathalie Xian Yi Yan is running as an independent.

Voters can cast their advanced ballot in these locations from May 19 to 28:

Bennetto Community Centre, 450 Hughson St. N., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamilton Central Library, 55 York Blvd., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The First Unitarian Church of Hamilton, 170 Dundurn St. S., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamilton East-Stoney Creek

Zaigham Butt is running for the NDP. Jason Farr is representing the Liberal party.

Neil Lumsden is running for the PC party. Paul Miller is running as an independent candidate.

The New Blue Party has nominated Jeffery Raulino. Cassie Wylie is running for the Green Party of Ontario. Domenic Diluca is representing the Ontario Party.

Voters can cast their advanced ballot at these locations:

Sir Winston Churchill Rec Centre, 1715 Main St. E., May 21 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Stoney Creek Rec Centre, 45 King St. W., May 21 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Winona Community Centre, 255 Winona Rd., May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas

NDP incumbent Sandy Shaw is running again. Shubha Sandill is representing the Liberals.

The Green Party of Ontario has nominated Syam Chandra. The Progressive Conservative Party has chosen Fred Bennink.

Frank Thiessen is running for the Ontario Party. Lee Weiss is representing the New Blue Party.

Advanced polling booths are open from May 19 until May 28 at:

Dundas Lions Memorial, 10 Market St. S., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Morgan Firestone Arena, 385 Jerseyville Rd. W., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Westmount Rec Centre, 35 Lynbrook Dr., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hamilton Mountain

NDP incumbent Monique Taylor is running again. Chantale Lachance is running for the Liberals.

Michael Spadafora has been nominated by the PCs. Baylee Nguyen will represent the New Blue Party.

Andy Busa is running for Ontario Party. Janet Errygers is representing the Green Party.

Voters can find advanced polling locations at:

HWDSB Education Centre, 20 Education Crt., May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

West Highland Baptist Church, 1605 Garth St., May 25 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

St. Michael's Anglican Church, 1188 Fennell Ave. E., May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Flamborough-Glanbrook

Progressive Conservative incumbent Donna Skelly is in the race for the 2022 provincial election. The Liberals nominated Melisse Willems.

Allison Cillis is representing the NDP in the race. The Populist party candidate is Nikita Mahmood.

Paul Simoes is running for the New Blue Party. Walt Juchniewicz is representing the Ontario Party. Mario Portak is the candidate for the Green Party.

Here are the advanced ballot locations:

Ancaster Fairgrounds, 630 Trinity Rd. S., May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Binbrook Fairgrounds, 2600 Hwy. 56, May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Family Church of Heritage Green, 360 Isaac Brock Dr., May 19 to 21, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Harry Howell Arena, 27 Hwy. 5 W., May 19 to 28, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Heritage Green Seventh-day Adventist Church, 349 Isaac Brock Dr., May 22 to 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voting by mail

To vote by mail, register online or via mail by 6 p.m. on May 27. Elections Ontario must receive a voter's completed voting kit by 6 p.m. on June 2. A voting kit will be sent to those whose applications for mail voting are received and approved.

What do you need

Residents who are at least 18, Canadian citizens, Ontario residents, and have their names on the Elections Ontario list are eligible to vote.

Voters will receive their voting cards between May 12 and 20. Those who are not on the list and are eligible to vote can register or update their information by May 23 at elections.on.ca/en/voting-in-ontario/voter-registration.html. Voters can also get their names added on election day. A piece of ID with the voter's name and address will be required.
