Spring into your weekend Hamilton, but be ready for some summer fun.

Drivers pack your patience, a gentle reminder that the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway is closed for repairs and maintenance starting Friday at 10 a.m. The closure will continue through the weekend, expect traffic delays on Hamilton Mountain.

Environment Canada is calling for Friday's 70 per cent chance of showers to change to partly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday with daytime highs over 22 C and the humidex making it feel more like 30.

Here are more than 10 events and things to do around the Hamilton area this weekend.

Hamilton Black Film Festival

Have your pass for the second annual Hamilton Black Film Festival? The festival is a mix of in-person and virtual this year. In-person events are showing at the Westdale on Friday and Saturday, featuring more than a dozen films. Virtual events run until May 30. The Hamilton Black Film Festival showcases cultural and traditional films of African/Caribbean, Native, Asian, Middle Eastern filmmakers and other films of ethnic inclusion. Festival passes range from $50 for a in-person three pack to $100 for all in-person showings. Virtual packs range from $25-75. hbff.ca

Celebrating heroes

Enjoy a live joint concert performed by the Dundas Valley Orchestra and Burlington Concert Band on Sunday at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Doors open at 5 p.m., allowing people to visit the museum with the concert starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 each or four for $50 available online at dundasvalleyorchestra.ca or burlingtonconcertband.ca. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Hamilton waterfront

Get down to Hamilton's waterfront this weekend. Most events are open and ready for summer fun. hamiltonwaterfront.com

  • The Outdoor Rink and Skate Rental are open for roller skating (weather conditions permitting) from 12 to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Friday from 5 to 10 p.m.

  • Scoops and the Waterfront Grill are open 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Theodore Too, the tugboat, is docked at Pier 8. No tours or boarding availability just yet, but you can visit at Pier 8 in the Hamilton Harbour, 47 Discovery Rd.

Dundas festival

The Dundas Museum's Made In Dundas Family Festival returns Saturday for crafts, games, face painting and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Joining in will be the Dundas Valley School of Art and the Little Tracks Petting Zoo. dundasmuseum.ca

Shred it

Shred those papers and protect yourself from identity theft. A mass shredding event in support of Crime Stoppers of Halton is Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Halton police headquarters, 2485 North Service Rd. W., Oakville. Shred your unwanted personal/business papers for a donation to Crime Stoppers of Halton.

Walking tour

Join Bill King Sunday for a free walking tour of downtown Hamilton. This week's topic is Bishops and Gas". Explore the area around St. Mary's Cathedral, where bishops and gasworks once dwelt side by side. Tours are about 90 minutes. Meet at King and John Streets at 10 a.m.

Caledonia Pride festival

Pride Haldimand Norfolk will host an in-person festival in Caledonia on Saturday from noon until 5 p.m., all are welcome for an afternoon of art, advocacy, live music and family fun in McKinnon Park in Caledonia.

Alzheimer Society walks

Take a walk this weekend and support your local Alzheimer Society. The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is back and you can participate in person or virtually. In person community events are happening Saturday in Hamilton from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at T.B. McQuesten Community Park, 1199 Upper Wentworth St.; in Haldimand-Norfolk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jarvis Lions Park, 1 James St. E.; in Halton from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sheridan College Conference Centre, 1430 Trafalgar Rd., Oakville; and in Brantford from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mohawk Park, 51 Lynnwood Dr. Pledges at alzda.ca

Walk for Dog Guides

The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a vital national fundraiser in support of Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. The walk raises funds to provide life-changing Dog Guides to Canadians with physical and medical disabilities. In person walks are on Sunday in Gage Park; Burlington Lions Club, 471 Pearl St., Burlington; Caledonia Lions Community Centre; and Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, 152 Wilson St, Oakville. Waterdown market

Paris Butter Tart Fest

Who can resist? It's a short hop to Paris, Ont. for The Great Canadian Butter Tart Fest this weekend. Top bakers from across Ontario come together and as usual ACE never disappoints in the foodie area. It's outdoors at the Paris Fairgrounds, 139 Silver St., Paris. Game day

It's go time. A little preseason action, Ticats take on the Alouettes on Saturday. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Kick off is 7 p.m. at Tim Hortons Field. ticats.ca
