Ancaster man wins $1-million Lotto Max Maxmillions prize
The April 19 Lotto Max draw has yielded another big winner in Hamilton.
Abdelnasir Bashir could barely believe his eyes when he checked his ticket. The Ancaster man discovered he had won a Maxmillions prize of $1 million in the April 19 draw.
When the married father told his wife about the win, she didn't believe him, according to an Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation news release.
"The disbelief was overwhelming," Bashir said in the release.
Bashir also wanted to thoroughly confirm his windfall and verified the ticket at three different stores.
"I scanned it using the ticket checker and I couldn't believe it. I checked it at multiple other places just to make sure it was real. By the third store, I knew it had to be true," Bashir added in the release.
A lottery player for 27 years, Bashir plans to buy a house with his winnings.
Bashir's winning ticket was purchased at the Ancaster Fortinos on Wilson Street West.
Last month, Hamilton's largest-ever lottery win was presented to Leah Murdoch-Gerics, who won the $60-million jackpot from the same April 19, Lotto Max draw.
