Power is out in two areas of west Hamilton Friday morning.

Alectra Utilities is reporting two separate failures affecting about 2,000 customers.

The utility reported a power failure at 5:23 a.m. in the area bordered by James, Main and Locke streets and Aberdeen Avenue. It affected 1,896 customers.

Then at 7:37 a.m., an outage affecting 206 residents and businesses in Westdale was reported on the utility's website.

The utility says both failures are due to underground distribution problems and estimates the lights will come back on between 10 and 11 a.m.

If you are without power, call 1-833-ALECTRA.
