Niagara police say they found the body of a Grimsby woman Saturday morning after she was pulled from the water at Casablanca Beach.
Niagara Regional Police Service media officer Const. Phil Gavin said emergency services responded to the beach in the area of Casablanca Boulevard and North Service Road at around 9:50 a.m. July 2.
The Grimsby woman, who was in her 80s and had been seen swimming a short time prior, was found unconscious in the water. Gavin said bystanders attempted live-saving efforts, which were continued by responding firefighters and paramedics.
The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Police say foul play is not suspected.
