Hamilton police are investigating after a 27-year-old man was shot at a west Mountain townhouse complex Thursday night.

Police were called to 77 Purnell Dr., between Upper Paradise Road and Garth Street, south of Mohawk Road West, around 9:25 p.m. June 21, said Const. Indy Bharaj.

A 27-year-old man was found seriously hurt and transported to hospital.

The man's injuries were considered significant, but not life-threatening, Bharaj said.

No suspect information has been released.

Police held the scene at the housing complex overnight, until Friday morning when it was to be searched again for evidence in daylight.

The public is asked to avoid the area.

This is believed to be at least the 21st shooting in Hamilton this year.

More to come.
