Brooke Henderson has won her second career major championship.

The Canadian won the Amundi Evian Championship on Sunday by one shot with a birdie on the 72nd hole.

Henderson shot an even-par 71 at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-Les-Baines, France, to win by one over LPGA Tour rookie Sophia Schubert.

The native of Smiths Falls, Ont. has won 12 times on the LPGA Tour, padding her record as the winningest Canadian of all time, on either the LPGA or PGA Tour.

Henderson won the ShopRite LPGA Classic in June for her 11th title.

The 24-year-old won her first major in 2016 at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

Henderson led by two starting the day but bogeyed her opening hole. After her playing partner, So Yeon Ryu, made birdie, a two-shot swing saw her lose her early advantage.

Henderson's putting had been solid all week but went cold on the front nine as it featured both a three-putt and a four-putt.

There was a six-way tie for the lead after Henderson bogeyed the par-4 11th but she made back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15 to get back in the mix.

Henderson snap-hooked her drive on the par-5 18th but knocked a wedge to about 20 feet and converted the final-hole birdie for the win, letting out a big breath of relief before getting showered with champagne.

Schubert, ranked 283rd in the world, finished second at 16-under after missing a birdie try from about 15 feet on her final hole of the day.

Five golfers finished at 15-under and tied for third including Sweden's Linn Grant, whose 7-under 64 was tied for low round of the day.

Each of the four 54-hole leaders at majors this year on the LPGA Tour have gone on to win.

The AIG Women's Open, Aug. 4-7, is the final major on the LPGA Tour schedule. It will be contested at Muirfield for the first time.
