Two children taken to hospital following accident at Burlington Beach

Halton police say two children have been taken to hospital following a mishap at Burlington Beach on Saturday, July 23.

At around 12:20 p.m., two children were playing together on the lake in inner tubes when one reportedly fell off into the water.

Staff Sgt. Peter Bishop said the second child began screaming for help at which point some beachgoers who were close by came to the rescue and pulled both children to the shore.

Halton police, the Burlington Fire Department and Halton EMS were called to the scene and both kids were transported to Joseph Brant Hospital by ambulance.

Bishop said both children were conscious and breathing when they left the scene.

Halton EMS confirmed the children were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The families of the children were present at the beach and are now with them at the hospital.
