Worker, 21, hurt in fall from under-construction apartment building in east Hamilton
A 21-year-old man was seriously hurt when he fell from a second-floor window at an under-construction apartment building Thursday evening.
Emergency services were called to a construction site at 20 Reid Ave. N., northwest of Main Street East and the Red Hill Valley Parkway, around 6 p.m. on July 28.
Hamilton police Const. Indy Bharaj said a 21-year-old man had fallen from the second floor, while the Ministry of Labour said a worker fell from a second-floor window.
The initial information from witnesses was that the man had lost consciousness, Bharaj added.
The 21-year-old was transported to hospital, wearing a neck brace, conscious and with obvious facial injuries to the right side of the face.
His injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening.
The 21-year-old was working at the construction site at the time of the accident.
A Ministry of Labour inspector was assigned to the incident and attended the site on Friday.
The ministry said its investigation is ongoing.
