Former Hamilton camp counsellor charged with sexual assault
A former Hamilton summer camp counsellor has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
Chevaughn Chevy" Adamson, 24, was arrested on Thursday.
Police said in a release they began their investigation in early July, when an individual came forward to report a 2017 incident.
Adamson, who is from Burlington, worked as a counsellor at Mohawk College's summer day camp at the time of the alleged assault. Police said he has not worked as a camp counsellor at Mohawk since.
Hamilton police believe that there may be more victims and encourage anyone with information to come forward," police said.
In a statement Monday, Mohawk president Ron McKerlie said the college is working closely" with police.
The care of our campers and everyone in our Mohawk College community is our highest priority," he said. This is upsetting news because we take our responsibility for caring for our community seriously."
Adamson is facing one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference, and will appear in court on Sept. 12, police say.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-546-4823.
