Ex-Yekaterinburg mayor Yevgeny Roizman charged under laws that ban criticism of armed forces
Russian police have detained the prominent opposition politician and former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, for his public criticism of the Russian war in Ukraine.
Roizman, who is a popular political activist in Yekaterinburg, the fourth-largest city in Russia, said he was being charged for his use of the word invasion" under strict new laws that ban criticism of the Russian armed forces.
