It’s a super weekend in Hamilton: Supercrawl and more things to do around town

What's not happening in Hamilton this weekend?

The weather looks to be perfect for our long-awaited full-blown Supercrawl weekend. The giant music and arts festival takes over Hamilton's James Street North Friday to Sunday. Check thespec.com for the latest through the weekend. We should see sunny skies with only a slight chance of showers come Sunday.

Looking for more this weekend or need a break from the throngs? Here are more than a dozen things to do around Hamilton.

Supercrawl 2022

We're all in for Supercrawl. Hint, there will be foam parties for the kids on Saturday and Sunday so bring a towel and a change of clothes if you are going to partake.

Mix Hamilton's Friday night Art Crawl with more vendors, street performers, delicious food, headline concerts, and live entertainment and you have a great three-day festival with something for everyone. Celebrate diversity along the James Street North district with music, film, art, fashion and culture from Friday, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday, noon to 1 a.m. and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m. Note the 45-minute foam party times are noon, 3 and 4:15 p.m. on Saturday and noon, 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Rev it up

Amica Dundas, 50 Hatt St., is hosting a Charity Car Show Friday starting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Bright run

You can still register on site Saturday morning for the 15th annual BRIGHT Run at Dundas Valley Conservation Area. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Get there early if you haven't already signed up. BRIGHT Run is a non-competitive, family friendly one and five kilometre walk or run held on the first Saturday after Labour Day. brightrun.ca

Model train open house

Choo-choo! Indoor and model railway layouts will be on display Saturday for children and rail enthusiasts of all ages at an open house for the Burlington Model Railway Club. Come to Hidden Valley Park, 1137 Hidden Valley Rd., Burlington, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations accepted.

Dahlia and Mum show

It's bloom season for the Hamilton and District Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society, which is hosting the Dahlia and Mum show on Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Royal Botanical Gardens Centre, 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington. Regular RBG admission applies. Dahlia bouquets are available. The event's Bloom Auction begins Sunday at 3 p.m.

Artisan markets

Meet the makers in person. Artisan Bazaar's outdoor market run Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., adjacent to the parking lot of the RBG rock garden, 1185 York Blvd. Over 50 artists and artisans with jewelry, pottery, home decor, pet items and fine arts. Admission is $2 (cash only), parking is free. theartisanbazaar.ca

You can also pop over to the Artisan Market in Dundas on Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Dundas Driving Park. Around 70 artists are registered as vendors for this free show that also offers free painting workshops for kids, food vendors and more. artisanmarketdundas.com

Myeloma March

Our hearts burst every September with multiple charity fundraisers, walks and awareness events. Here's one happening this weekend.

Hamilton-Niagara Multiple Myeloma March, Saturday, 9 a.m. at Edgewater Pavilion at Confederation Beach Park. This is a 5K walk/run. More information about myeloma and full details on this year's five-kilometre walk are available at myeloma.ca.

Doors Open Burlington

Doors are wide open on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for you to explore Doors Open Burlington. In-person venues include the Burlington Masonic Centre, Burlington Performing Arts Centre, Freeman Station, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, and Theatre Burlington. All tours and activities are free. Walking tours

Join Bill King Sunday for a free 90-minute walking tour of downtown Hamilton. This weekend is The Laird of Dundurn." Explore some of the contributions of Sir Allan MacNab, and places connected with his life. Meet at King and John streets at 10 a.m.

Hamilton's Stories in the Stones, a free two-hour walking tour at Hamilton Cemetery, 777 York Blvd., runs most Saturdays. Join Robin McKee at 11 a.m. at the gatehouse. This week is Art Crawl Tour. hamiltonhistory.ca.

Pagan Pride Day

Calling all heathens, witches and occultists, Hamilton Pagan Pride Day returns to Gage Park on Sunday. Also known as Harvestfest, the day features earth-based spiritual paths and the occult. Admission is free and the event runs in the park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with workshops, vendors, live rituals and more. For more details, visit ppdhamilton.org.

Game day

It's round two of the Intercounty Baseball League best of five series and the Hamilton Cardinals lead London 2-1. Game four is Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium, 1100 Mohawk Rd. E. Tickets range from $5 to $10. theibl.ca

Fall fairs

Get all your fall feels this weekend as the fall fair grind is well underway.

Cambridge Fall Fair runs Sept. 8 to 11. The fair is in Dickson Park, 30 Parkhill Rd. W. The gates open at 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. thefallfair.ca

West Niagara Fair runs Sept. 9 to 11. The fair is in West Niagara Agricultural Centre & Fairgrounds located in Grassie, halfway between Grimsby and Smithville, at 7402 Mud St. W. westniagarafair.ca

Junior Naturalists

Registration is open for children ages six to 13 to join the Royal Botanical Gardens Junior Naturalists Club. The club runs every third Saturday from Sept. 17 to June 17. The RBG partners with Hamilton Naturalists' Club for a year of fun and adventure while exploring the ravines, forests, fields and wetlands of RBG. These outdoor sessions are two to 2.5 hours long and are themed to match the season and hiking location. rbg.ca
