New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones suffered from back spasms during Sunday's 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins, reports NFL.com Kevin Patra.

There's a chance Jones plays this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers after his X-Rays reportedly came back negative.

The 24-year-old's injury isn't considered serious, but the Patriots will monitor how Jones feels this week before Sunday's game, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The second-year passer hurt his back during New England's 20-7 season-opening loss to the Dolphins. Jones finished the game with 213 yards and one touchdown against one interception while going 21-for-30 passing. He was sacked twice and hit three times against Miami.

If Jones can't face Pittsburgh, New England is expected to turn to veteran Brian Hoyer at quarterback. The Patriots also roster rookie Bailey Zappe, whom the team drafted in the fourth round.
