A Hamilton ice cream shop specializing in dipped cones and handmade chocolates has closed its doors.

Burlington-based La Creme de la Creme Creamery announced the permanent closure of their Locke Street South shop through a social media post on Sept. 2.

The owners pointed to the need to balance their Burlington location, other ventures and the future of the business, which left the Steeltown shop getting lost" in the mix.

Don't worry, this isn't a sad story," read the post. Our lease was coming due so we took the opportunity to take back our time."

The shop, which was located beside Pasta Mercato, thanked its customers and other fellow business owners in the area.

The closure of the Hamilton location will have no impact on their Burlington shop, according to the owners. All gift cards purchased at the Hamilton store will be valid at the Burlington location.
