Bengals' Chase: Trevon Diggs has great athleticism but not 'technique-sound'
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase offered a candid assessment of Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs ahead of their heavily anticipated Week 2 meeting.
"He's an athlete. He's got great ball skills in the air. He's super fast. He's not too much on technique-sound, though. You know what I'm saying? He's a little hit or miss. He's either all the way on or not on at all," Chase said Friday, per Mike Petraglia of CLNS Media.
Sunday's matchup will be the first time Chase goes against Diggs since the two were in college. Chase, then at LSU, put up six catches, 140 yards, and one touchdown against Diggs and Alabama in a 2019 victory for the Tigers.
Both players have become stars at their respective positions since going pro. Chase was named Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021 after posting 81 receptions for a franchise-record 1,455 yards. Meanwhile, Diggs led the league with 11 interceptions last season, the most recorded by a player in a single season since 1981.
Diggs ranked Chase among his top five receivers in the NFL earlier this summer.
The Bengals and Cowboys are both searching for their first win of the 2022 campaign after each lost in Week 1.
