Hoyer out with head injury, rookie Zappe in vs. Packers
by Brenden Deeg from on (#64A10)
New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer was ruled out Sunday against the Green Bay Packers due to a head injury and replaced by rookie Bailey Zappe.
Hoyer was starting in place of an injured Mac Jones.
The injury to Hoyer occurred on a sack by Packers linebacker Rashan Gary in the first quarter. Hoyer walked to the locker room and never returned.
The Patriots selected Zappe in the fourth round of this year's draft. Zappe led the FBS in passing yards last season, throwing for 5,545 yards and 56 touchdowns for Western Kentucky.
