Brady joins ownership group of Major League Pickleball team

Tom Brady has joined the ownership ranks of Major League Pickleball.

Alongside former world No. 1 tennis player Kim Clijsters, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is part of a group that recently purchased an expansion team for the 2023 Major League Pickleball season.

"(They) are champions in their fields and will now be champions for Major League Pickleball," MLP Founder Steve Kuhn said in a statement. "What really shines through in working with these amazing individuals is their passion for the sport.

"We are thrilled to welcome them to our unrivaled roster of strategic partners, who are individually and collectively instrumental in helping us elevate professional pickleball, showcase the joy it brings to millions of people around the globe, and further our ... mission to reach 40 million pickleball players by 2030."

Brady is one of several athletes to invest in Major League Pickleball. Other team owners include former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and NBA stars LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Kevin Love.

As part of its growth plan for 2023, Major League Pickleball will increase from 12 teams to 16, double its total number of events to six, and increase player prize money and payouts to over $2 million.
