Get in the Halloween spirit with these events in the Hamilton area
Hamilton is climbing trees and celebrating arts and culture this weekend.
Environment Canada is calling for mostly sunny skies with daytime temperatures just above 15 C.
Here are a few things to do this weekend around Hamilton as well as some Halloween happenings going into next week.
Colourful treetops
Catch the fall colours before they drop at Hamilton's Treetop Trekking. Support the Canadian Mental Health Association and Climb for a Cause on Saturday. Treetop Trekking located in Binbrook Conservation Area, 5050 Harrison Rd., is donating 50 per cent of proceeds from treks to the CMHA. treetoptrekking.com
Speaker series
Hamilton's Head of the Lake Historical Society monthly speaker series features Margaret Stowe on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Stowe, an acclaimed jazz-based guitarist, is an historian and family archivist with Hamilton roots. A Jolly Crowd" is a collection of stories about her grandmother and the downtown crowd" in Hamilton during and after WWI. Meetings are held in the Coach House at Dundurn Castle.
Innovation showcase
2022 Innovation Nation Conference & Student Innovation Showcase is Sunday at LiUNA Station. The conference showcases new ideas together with people with the knowledge and money to take them into the market. Admission is free. Register at innovation-nation.ca.
AGHFest
The Art Gallery of Hamilton AGH Festival: 10 Days of Arts and Culture continues until Sunday. There are pop-ups and workshops representing visual art, media and film, performance, craft, and other creative genres. Programming details and tickets can be found at artgalleryofhamilton.com.
More mums
Where will you find more than 100,000 blooms in one space? The 2022 Hamilton Fall Garden and Mum Show, Mums in Space," is blooming at the tropical greenhouse in Gage Park until Sunday, open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are free for children five and younger, and $7.77 for adults. Halloween Happenings
With one week until All Hallows' Eve, here are some frightful events in the community this weekend and into the week.
Halloween Fun Fair - Dundas Driving Park, 71 Cross St., is the venue for a free outdoor Halloween Fun Fair on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vendors, live entertainment and more. Don't forget the costume contest is at 3:30 p.m. near the stage.
Mountsberg's Spooktacular - Mountsberg's Spooktacular Halloween is open weekends. Enjoy the illuminated Night Walk through the forest, visit the Haunted Barn, meet resident snakes and owls, and take on the Halloween scavenger hunt. Fieldcote Great Pumpkin Stroll - The Great Pumpkin Stroll in Fieldcote Memorial Park is Thursday, Oct. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. Spooky fun and savour the flavours of local food trucks. Wear a Halloween costume and submit a pumpkin for display. Cash donation $10 per family suggested.
- Deliver your carved and decorated pumpkin to the bandstand at Fieldcote on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Recognition will be presented for the most creative, the scariest, and the funniest pumpkin for businesses, schools and families.
Westfield Pumpkin Party - Reservations are open for Westfield's Halloween Pumpkin Party on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for this day of games, crafts, scavenger hunt and more. westfieldheritage.ca
Adult Flashlight Tour - Hamilton's Steam Museum After Dark is holding an Adult Flashlight Tour Friday, Oct. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Museum of Steam & Technology National Historic Site, 900 Woodward Ave. Tickets are $15 per person. DVSA Hallowbaloo - Hallowbaloo Family Art Day is Sunday, Oct. 29 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Dundas Valley School of Art, 21 Ogilvie St. Get creative on this free family art day open house. Halloween Spooktacular - Hamilton's Gore Park is mucked up with fine Halloween spirit. On Friday, Oct. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m., you will find a variety of amusement haunts, including a large-scale hay maze and funhouse. Park visitors will be entertained with roaming aerialists, a DJ dance party, face painting, photo booth, prize wheel and pumpkin decorating station. Children can take their carved pumpkins home. Kids Halloween Party - Children four to nine can party at the Erland Lee Museum, 552 Ridge Rd., Stoney Creek, on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. Put on your costume and get ready for a spooky, silly, and fun-filled day with games, crafts, prizes and more. Tickets are $8. Call 905-662-2691.
