Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after one person was injured during an early morning home invasion in Simcoe.

In a press release, the Norfolk OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said just before 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning, officers were called to reports of a home invasion at a residence on Highland Avenue.

Sanchuk said three suspects, who were armed with guns, broke into the home and woke up the occupants demanding property."

One of the residents was assaulted during the incident and sustained minor injuries.

Sanchuk said the three suspects then fled the home in an unknown direction. A white-coloured vehicle that was parked outside the home was witnessed speeding away from the area.

Officers, along with the help of the OPP canine unit and the emergency response team, attended the home and searched the area, however neither the suspects or the believed getaway vehicle were located.

Sanchuk said the incident is believed to be targeted. The investigation is ongoing, he noted.

Norfolk OPP are asking anyone with information or surveillance capturing suspicious activity in the area to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
