Rodgers: Packers' 3-game slide 'might be the best thing for us'

Aaron Rodgers isn't ready to punt on the 2022 season despite the Green Bay Packers losing their third straight game Sunday with a defeat to the Washington Commanders.

Rodgers told reporters that he still believes the Packers, who sit at 3-4, can make the postseason. Green Bay heads into Week 8 with a Sunday night contest against the 5-1 Buffalo Bills on the road.

"I'm not worried about this squad. In fact, this might be the best thing for us," Rodgers said, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "This week, nobody's going to give us a chance, going to Buffalo on Sunday Night Football, with a chance to get exposed. Shoot, this might be the best thing for us."

Rodgers threw for less than 200 yards in Sunday's 23-21 loss to the Commanders, though he pitched in two touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, the Packers could muster only 232 total yards, including 38 yards on the ground.

The reigning NFL MVP hasn't been shy to criticize the Packers' struggling offense this season. After last week's loss to the New York Jets, Rodgers told reporters that the plays needed simplifying.

Green Bay trails the 5-1 Minnesota Vikings - who spent Week 7 on a bye - for first place in the NFC North.
