The Philadelphia Eagles are 8-0 for the first time in franchise history after beating the Houston Texans on Thursday night, but quarterback Jalen Hurts isn't getting carried away.

"I know it's special for the city of Philadelphia," Hurts said, according to Grant Gordon of NFL.com. "I mean, I've been 8-0 before and lost the national championship. Just take it day by day. Take it day by day.

"We haven't accomplished anything yet. It's a day-by-day thing of us controlling things we can, playing to our standard and trying to grow every day. I think that's truly what it's about."

Hurts put together another impressive performance in the 29-17 prime-time victory to add to his MVP-caliber season, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns.

He did lose a fumble amid a slow first half for the Eagles' offense, which opened up the door for Houston to keep the game closer than most expected entering the matchup.

But Philadelphia caught fire in the third quarter to preserve its undefeated start to the season. Defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson snagged an interception to help set up Hurts' touchdown pass to a wide-open A.J. Brown.

Attention will inevitably turn to the Eagles' pursuit of regular-season perfection, and the NFC East club only has four games remaining against teams that currently have a winning record - the Tennessee Titans in Week 13, Dallas Cowboys in Week 16, and New York Giants in Weeks 14 and 18.

But Philadelphia is focused on taking the season one game at a time.

"This shit is hard," Brown said, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. "Prime example: the first half. They took the ball out of our hand, running the ball. We've got to find a way to adjust. We're not caught up in trying to go perfect. That's not even a conversation right now. We're just trying to win. Find a way to win."

The Eagles are set to host the Washington Commanders in Week 10.
