Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is dealing with a right elbow sprain, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Allen's status for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings is "up in the air," according to Rapoport, who adds the star signal-caller could potentially play through the ailment.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott addressed Allen's injury Wednesday, though he didn't confirm the report.

"He's day-to-day. The next question is going to be: Will he play? We'll see," said McDermott, who added that Allen won't practice Wednesday, according to Mike Giardi of NFL Network.

"Not going into the medical report. Not going to answer any more questions about Josh," McDermott said. "We will see how he does. We'll use common sense."

Allen sustained the injury late in Sunday's loss to the New York Jets while attempting a pass. He was reportedly evaluated for an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves in his throwing elbow after the contest. The 26-year-old said postgame that he was experiencing elbow pain but wasn't overly concerned about it.

Allen is considered an MVP front-runner through the first half of the 2022 season after passing for 2,403 yards and 19 touchdowns against eight interceptions through eight games. He's added 392 yards and four scores on the ground while helping Buffalo post a 6-2 record.

Veteran quarterback Case Keenum would start for the Bills if Allen is unable to play in Week 10.
