‘Greenslide’: Victorian Greens celebrate election success while two teals in contention in knife-edge contests

Greens look likely to gain at least one seat and outperform expectations in a number of other electorates

The Victorian Greens are claiming a Greenslide" result after recording an increased primary vote and gaining at least one seat, and a further two still in contention as counting progresses in Saturday's election.

Teal independents are also in contention in two tight contests although Liberals retook a narrow lead in Hawthorn, where former Liberal shadow attorney general John Pesutto is battling independent Melissa Lowe and Mornington, where former federal Liberal MP Chris Crewther is battling Kate Lardner - who isolated from her supporters after testing positive to Covid.
