Body discovered in burnt vehicle in Burlington – homicide unit investigating
A death has been ruled as suspicious.
At roughly 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 27, police and fire services were called to a vehicle fire near 5463 Dundas Street, west of Tremaine Road in Burlington. After the fire was extinguished, a deceased body was discovered in the vehicle.
The circumstances have been ruled as suspicious and the homicide unit has taken over the investigation. The deceased person has not been identified as of yet and the vehicle will been taken to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for further examination.
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the fire and travelled in the area of Dundas Street between Bronte Road and Appleby Line or who may have any dashcam footage from November 27, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. within the following area: Highway 407 (north), Appleby Line (west), Bronte Road (east) and QEW/403 (south).
As of 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 27, a large police presence was still present near Tremaine Road on Dundas Street.
Police officers could be seen gathering roughly 30 feet off the north side of Dundas Street around a vehicle that had been tarped over. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 905-825-4776.
