Police identify man found dead in burning car in Burlington and say he was murdered
Halton police have identified a body that was found in a burning vehicle in Burlington and have now confirmed the individual was murdered.
In a press release issued Monday, Dec. 5 officers identified the person found in a burning vehicle in the area of 5463 Dundas St., on Nov. 27 as 31-year-old Jerwin Belmonte.
Police said Belmonte is a resident of Edmonton, Alberta who had recently relocated to Toronto.
They said Belmonte was last seen alive in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue in Toronto on Nov. 26.
Police did not say how Belmonte died but described him as a victim of homicide.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have had contact with Belmonte on or prior to Nov. 26 or those who may have information about his murder.
