Report: Cardinals' Murray feared to have torn ACL

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is believed to have torn his ACL after suffering a non-contact knee injury on the opening drive in Monday's 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots, a source told ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.

Murray is set for an MRI on Tuesday. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said postgame that "it doesn't look good" for Murray, but the team should know more after the additional tests, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

The signal-caller was carted off the field after falling to the ground on a 3-yard scramble on the Cardinals' third play of the game.

Colt McCoy entered the contest following Murray's departure. The veteran led Arizona down the field before a missed field goal ended its first drive.

McCoy finished the contest with 246 yards and one interception. He was sacked six times.

Murray missed two games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury. The 25-year-old entered Monday's contest with 2,359 passing yards and 14 touchdowns to seven interceptions in 2022. He's also added three scores with his legs.

Drafted first overall by the Cardinals in 2019, Murray has earned two Pro Bowl invites and one playoff berth with Arizona. The franchise inked him to a five-year, $230.5-million extension this past offseason.
