An 87-year-old woman was killed in the T-bone crash at Stone Church and Golf Links roads in Ancaster on Tuesday night

The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles when the crash occurred in the intersection around 6:18 p.m., said Const. Indy Bharaj of the Hamilton police.

The driver from the same vehicle, a 90-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was not hurt, remained at the scene and is co-operating with police.

The investigation by the collision reconstruction unit suggests the vehicle carrying the 87-year-old woman was turning left from Stone Church on to Golf Links when it was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The crash spurred lengthy road closures in the area, including Highway 403 off-ramps to the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. All roads were reopened by a little after 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police said the crash was one of four collisions that sent people to hospital in the area patrolled by Mountain division officers Tuesday night.

Detectives have not ruled out any causal factors" in the fatal crash investigation, Bharaj said.

Any witnesses who have not already spoke with police can call the collision reconstruction unit at 905-546-4753 or 905-546-4755.
