Car stolen shortly before Hamilton Mountain hit-and-run
Hamilton police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect wanted in a hit-and-run involving a stolen car that sent a 70-year-old man to hospital with life-threatening injuries Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to the crash at Upper Wentworth Street and Elite Drive around 9 p.m.
Police said they have confirmed a Subaru was stolen from the area of Upper Sherman Avenue and Stone Church Road East shortly before the crash.
It's believed the suspect involved in the theft and ensuing collision was dropped off in the area where the car was stolen in a dark-coloured Ford pickup truck, police said.
Police are asking residents and businesses in the area to check their security cameras between 9 and 10 p.m. for any suspicious activity. Anyone with dashcam footage is also asked to call police.
The crash remains under investigation by the collision reconstruction unit.
