Hamilton man charged in City Centre mall stabbing
Hamilton police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man in connection with a stabbing at Hamilton City Centre on Monday.
The 27-year-old is facing charges of aggravated assault, robbery with intent and four counts of fail to comply with probation.
Emergency services were called to 77 James St. N. around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 after a man entered the mall's Rebecca Street doors bleeding heavily. They found the 38-year-old victim with two stab wounds to his shoulder area and torso.
Hamilton paramedics transported the man to hospital, where he immediately underwent surgery and was later listed in stable condition.
Police are not disclosing whether the victim and accused knew each other prior to the stabbing, citing the ongoing investigation.
The 27-year-old was expected to appear in court Wednesday.
