STORM CLOSURES: Hamilton area cancellations and updates

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Hamilton and area.
A weather warning is issued by the national weather agency when hazardous conditions are forecast.
The freezing rain warning is expected to remain into early Thursday afternoon.
If your community organization is closing or cancelling an event or activity on Thursday, email news@thespec.com.
For city-related emergencies involving roads, water mains, sewers and more, call the City of Hamilton for service at 905-546-2489.
Cancellations closures and updates
- Hamilton Catholic and public schools are open Thursday morning and transportation is running.
- Schools at the Halton Catholic and public boards are also open but are reporting transportation services are cancelled in Zones 1, 2 and 3.
- Grand Erie is now advising all schools and buses are cancelled due to inclement weather.
- McMaster University is open today and exams and events are running as scheduled.
- Mohawk College campuses are open today.
- Guelph University Campus is closed Thursday due to severe weather. All exams scheduled for today will be rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 17.
- YWCA Hamilton child care programs in Dunnville are closed but its Hamilton programs remain open.
- All child care and EarlyON programs in Haldimand and Norfolk schools are closed but licensed home child care programs within the region remain open.
- Ride Norfolk is not operating due to the weather and cancellation of local school buses.
- HSR service is running on or near schedule with a small number of buses experiencing delays of up to 10 minutes as of 8:45 a.m.
- GO Lakeshore West Train. Running a reduced schedule Thursday due to the storm. There will be no express trains. Trains may also be using different platforms, listen for station announcements. Use the Trip Planner on gotransit.com or see below for updated schedules.
- City of Hamilton programs are not altered because of the weather and waste collection is taking place as scheduled.
- Hamilton's The Dental Health Bus is temporarily closed today. The bus will reopen tomorrow morning at 8:30am at Neighbour 2 Neighbour at 28 Athens St.
- The Hamilton Conservation Authority main office is closed to the public. For the reception desk, either call and leave a voicemail at 905-525-2181, ext. 100, and we will return your call, or email nature@conservationhamilton.ca.
- The Rotary Children's Christmas Celebration at Cathy Wever School has been rescheduled for Friday due to the storm.
- Soccer World has cancelled its golf program Thursday, but all other programming is on. Stay tuned for updates about evening programming.
- Hamilton Public Library Bookmobile Meadowlands, 2:30-3 p.m., visit is cancelled today. The BGCHH visit has been modified to 2:30 -3 p.m. instead today.
